Yes. A correctly operated dental vacuum former can produce accurately fitting clear retainers. Retainer quality depends on the accuracy of the model, appropriate sheet material and thickness, correct heating and careful trimming. A pressure former is not required simply because the appliance is a retainer. Modern rapid-vacuum units are commonly used for this type of appliance.
