Common dental thermoforming polymers include PETG and related copolyesters, EVA, TPU and polyethylene. Different materials provide different combinations of hardness, flexibility, transparency, elasticity and durability. PETG is commonly used for rigid appliances such as retainers and splints, EVA for flexible mouthguards, and TPU for soft or elastic layers. Material should always be selected according to the intended appliance.
