PETG is a transparent, tough thermoplastic commonly used for rigid dental appliances such as retainers, occlusal splints and some aligner workflows. It has good clarity and dimensional stability while remaining thermoformable. Erkodur is an example of a PETG-based dental thermoforming material. The final properties of an appliance also depend on thickness and the amount of material stretching during forming.
