Which thermoforming material is best for occlusal splints?

Category: Thermoforming Materials

For conventional hard adjustable splints, a tough rigid material such as Erkodur is commonly used because the occlusal surface can be accurately adjusted. Where greater comfort is required, Erkoloc-pro combines a hard outer layer with a softer tooth-facing layer. Soft materials such as Erkoflex-95 may also be used for selected soft splint applications. The correct choice depends on the splint design and patient requirements.
