Which thermoforming material is best for retainers?

A clear, tough material with good dimensional stability is normally preferred for retainers. Erkodur is widely used for conventional clear retainers. Erkodur-al provides a somewhat more flexible alternative, while Erkoloc-pro can be considered where a hard/soft construction is desired. Thickness, occlusion, expected wear and retention requirements should all influence the final choice.
