Is a hard or soft splint better for bruxism?

Category: Occlusal Splints

There is no universal answer. Hard splints provide a stable occlusal surface that can be accurately adjusted, while softer appliances may be more comfortable for selected patients. Hard/soft materials offer a compromise by combining a softer internal surface with a hard outer layer. The appliance should be selected according to diagnosis, retention, occlusal requirements and expected wear.
