How much occlusal thickness is lost during thermoforming?

There is no fixed amount. Thickness loss depends on model height, occlusal anatomy, material, original sheet thickness and how far the material has to stretch. Prominent cusps and incisal edges generally experience greater thinning than lower areas. The starting material should therefore be selected with the expected stretching and planned occlusal adjustment in mind.
