How long should a thermoformed occlusal splint last?

There is no fixed lifespan. Durability depends on the material, thickness, appliance design, severity of bruxism, cleaning method, frequency of use and whether the patient chews or grinds heavily on the appliance. Regular review is useful so excessive wear, cracking or changes in fit can be identified before the appliance fails.
