What is the best thermoforming material for an occlusal splint?

Category: Occlusal Splints

There is no single material that is ideal for every occlusal splint. For a conventional hard adjustable splint, Erkodur is generally a good choice because its rigid surface allows accurate occlusal adjustment. If greater patient comfort is required, Erkoloc-pro combines a hard PETG outer layer with a softer TPU tooth-facing layer. The best choice also depends on the required thickness, retention, bruxism severity and the design of the appliance.
