Is EVA the best material for sports mouthguards?

EVA is widely used because it is flexible, resilient, comfortable and capable of absorbing impact energy. It is therefore a very suitable mouthguard material, although the final protection also depends on appliance design, coverage, fit and remaining thickness after forming. Material choice should be considered together with the construction of the mouthguard.
